The Donut King – From Cambodia to the American Dream
A few months ago, I was on a Delta flight out of Atlanta (Airbus A220-300) and my fellow colleague was browsing the IFE movie library. In the library, there was a documentary called The Donut King. The movie covers the story of Ted Ngoy, his family, and Cambodians who fled the 1975 Khmer Rouge takeover of the country and made it to the United States. Upon arrival in the United States, Ted and his family had nothing; however, he quickly built a Donut empire in Southern California. His donut empire ended up helping other Cambodians seeking refuge from the devastation caused by the Khmer Rouge.

It is an amazing story that captures the history of a lesser-known side of the Vietnam War. Being half-Cambodian/Khmer, my family went through the same ordeal as Ted and his family.
I highly recommend watching The Donut King and commend Delta Air Lines for including it in their IFE library.
If you are not on a Delta flight, you can find The Donut King on Hulu and Disney+; however, I was recently unable to find it in the Disney+ library (movie rotation?).
A preview of the documentary is below.
